Accounting Technician

The Position

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Accounting Technician or a Part Qualified Accountant

As well as working in our modern office close to Lisburn City Centre, the position will require you to attend client premises.

Your typical day-to-day responsibilities would include: –

  • Prepare accounts to review stage for sole traders, partnerships and companies using both FRS102 and FRS105.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts.
  • Corporation Tax Return and Self-Assessment Tax Return preparation.

The Person

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following essential criteria.

  • Be a qualified Accounting Technician or Part Qualified Accountant
  • Have at least three (and preferably more) years’ experience in accounts preparation and tax return preparation in a similar size practice environment
  • Be technically proficient in the use of Xero, Accounts Production Software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • From day one, be willing to take on a sizable accounts preparation portfolio and can manage the relationships within that portfolio.
  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to manage time spent against budget, and work alongside team members to ensure the timely completion of work
  • The ability to be proactive, use own initiative, and work independently, as well as part of the team
  • The ability to demonstrate sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
  • An interest in streamlining and automating processes would be beneficial but not necessary
  • Able to work to tight deadlines, both internal and statutory
  • Have a clean driving licence and access to your own transport

Tax Technician

The Position

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tax Technician and the typical day to day duties of this role will involve: –

  • Requesting relevant tax information from clients
  • Preparation of self-assessment tax return forms (predominantly for personal tax clients and partnerships), together with relevant supporting documentation and accurate working papers
  • Electronic submission of tax return forms to HMRC
  • Preparation of ‘Income & Expenditure’ and Rental Accounts for tax return purposes
  • Checking HMRC tax calculations, PAYE coding notices, penalty determinations etc and liaising with HMRC regarding any adjustments required
  • Assisting with the preparation of forms P11D
  • Providing support too the payroll department at busy times of month/ year
  • Dealing with general tax queries from clients
  • Technical research of tax issues when required.
  • Developing good working relationship with clients which will include direct client contact.
  • Providing clients with a quality, timely and responsive taxation service

The Person

The successful candidate should meet the following essential criteria: –

  • Be a qualified Tax Technician (ATT) or Accounting Technician (IATI / ATI)
  • Have at least 2 years related tax experience, ideally gained within a small to medium sized firm, and predominantly in Personal Tax.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent organisation skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proactive individual who can use their own initiative to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise work in a fast paced and high-volume environment, whilst maintaining keen attention to client needs.
  • Able to manage time spent against budget and work alongside other team members to ensure the timely completion of work.
  • Capable of demonstrating sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
  • The flexibility to work additional hours during busy times.
  • Commitment to learning, use of latest tax technology / software and adherence to our established in-house tax processes.
  • Be proficient in the use of various cloud accounting packages such as Xero and Freeagent
  • Be aware of the upcoming changes arising from Making Tax Digital for Income Tax and conveying same to clients and helping them convert to digital software.
  • An interest in streamlining and automating processes would also be beneficial but is not essential.

Practice Accounts Bookkeeper

The Position

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Bookkeeper for our growing Business Support department.

Your typical day-to-day responsibilities would include:

  • Bookkeeping to include:
    • Sales and purchase ledger maintenance including debtor and creditor balances reconciliations.
    • Bank reconciliations
    • VAT return preparation
  • Payroll (UK and RoI) processing
  • CIS administration
  • Self-Assessment Tax Return preparation at certain times of the year
  • Direct contact with clients

The Person

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following essential criteria; –

  • Be a qualified Accounting Technician or a minimum of 3-4 years relevant Practice Business Support experience
  • Have at least two years’ experience using Xero and other cloud accounting platforms as well as Sage Payroll Bureau experience.
  • Be technically proficient in aspects of Microsoft Office applications.
  • From day one, be willing to take on a sizable client portfolio of differing sizes of clients and in industry sectors and deadlines and can manage the relationships within that portfolio.
  • An interest in streamlining and automating processes would be beneficial but not necessary
  • Self-Assessment Tax Return experience (desired but not essential)
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced and high-volume environment with keen attention to client needs
  • The ability to manage time spent against budget, and work alongside team members to ensure the timely completion of work.
  • The ability to be proactive, use own initiative, and work independently, as well as part of the team
  • The ability to demonstrate sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
  • The flexibility to work additional hours during busy times
