Exchange Accountants in good health after expanding its operations
Retaining the MedFinancial name but now operating as a limited company, MedFinancial Accountants Ltd provides accountancy, taxation and business advice tailored to meet the needs of all sectors of the medical profession from qualification to retirement – including GP practices, locum and portfolio career doctors, hospital consultants, hospital doctors and registrars, training and seminars.
Exchange Accountants
All MedFinancial staff and management have relocated to Exchange Accountants headquarters at Oakmont House in LIsburn, bringing the total workforce to 20, including former MedFinancial Principal Sharon Hamilton who will remain in the business as a consultant.
Speaking about the acquisition, Exchange Accountants Director William Gould said: “We are always on the look-out for opportunities to expand and grow our business and MedFinancial was a very attractive proposition in so far as the practice was already based in Lisburn and offers a niche service, i.e., the medical sector, that would complement our existing suite of services very well.
“We already have a number of medical clients within the Exchange portfolio – including consultants, dentists, opticians – but this move gives us a much stronger specialism in the medical sector.
“This is a very exciting development for Exchange Accountants and one that we believe will benefit all of our collective clients,” added Mr Gould. “Not only does the acquisition enhance our medical expertise for existing clients, but it also gives MedFinancial clients access to the full suite of Exchange services – in particular our specialist tax planning, cloud accounting and digital capabilities.”
Sharon Hamilton, who founded MedFinancial in 2020, said: “This is a very exciting time for all of us at MedFinancial as we begin a new chapter.
“I’d like to assure our loyal client base that it’s very much business as usual and we will continue to provide the first-class service that they are used to – but now with access to the additional resources and expertise that a bigger company like Exchange Accountants has to offer.
“The fact that we remain in Lisburn is also an important factor to all of us,” added Sharon.
This is the third acquisition by Exchange in the past six years, having taken over Fitzmaurice McConville & Co in 2019, as well as another local smaller practice.
Established in 2011, Exchange Accountants provides premier accountancy services and tax advice to a wide variety of locally based SMEs and individuals. Exchange was the first accountancy practice in Northern Ireland to be recognized as a Xero Gold Partner – and in 2021, the company achieved Platinum Partner status with the market-leading cloud accountancy software provider.
